Why required item specifics are suddenly missing
Item specifics describe your product in a structured way. eBay decides per category which ones are required or recommended and adjusts this from time to time. A listing that was complete when you created it can therefore be missing details later.
Often you only notice when you want to change the listing: incorrect or missing required details can cause eBay to reject a change.
A look at Seller Hub
According to eBay, in Seller Hub you can find the listings that are missing required item specifics on the “Overview” tab under “Tasks”. For a first overview, that is often enough.
With many listings, the real work begins afterward: for each listing you have to look up what the category requires and check the matching value on the product.
Step 1: Sync and review your listings
Connect your eBay account and sync your listings. Open “Optimizations” and start review mode. eOptima loads the requirements of each category and shows missing required fields as action needed.
Required item specifics and recommended details are marked separately. If a category has changed, reload its requirements from eBay.
Step 2: Enter only verifiable values
Take details from the product, the packaging, or manufacturer documents. Don't invent manufacturer part numbers, and don't copy item specifics from a product that is merely similar.
If you don't know a value, check what the eBay category allows for it. eBay decides per category whether a detail is required.
Step 3: Review and transfer
Check the values and trigger the transfer to eBay. The status shows for each change whether eBay has applied it. If eBay rejects a change, you see the message and can try again after correcting it.
What complete item specifics do and don't do
Buyers often narrow search results with filters such as brand, size, or color. Listings without the matching detail may be missing from these filtered results.
Complete and correct item specifics guarantee neither a particular position in eBay search nor additional sales.
