What a change to the business policy does
Business policies bundle shipping, payment, and return details so you don't have to enter them again in every listing. According to eBay, a change updates all listings linked to that policy. That saves work as long as all of those listings really should have the same shipping.
It gets difficult when different items share the same policy, such as a light parcel and a heavy one. A central change then also affects listings whose shipping costs were already right.
Step 1: Find the affected listings
First check which listings deviate at all. The shipping analysis in eOptima compares the shipping options of all synced listings with your active rates and shows the current amount, the target, and the difference.
This also applies to listings that take their shipping options from a business policy. That way you see which listings of a shared policy actually need a change.
Step 2: Change only the matching listings
Select the recommendations you want to apply and dismiss the rest. The changes first go into the change queue and only reach eBay when you trigger the transfer.
The queue shows for each change whether eBay has applied it. The history records the old and new shipping costs.
What happens to the business policy
eOptima never changes a shared business policy. Depending on the kind of change, eOptima either stores the deviation on the listing itself or creates a copy of the policy that is assigned only to this listing.
Such copies appear in your list of business policies on eBay. You can recognize them by the “eOptima” suffix and the item number in the name.
When the central change is better
If all linked listings really should get the same new amount, changing the business policy directly on eBay is the simpler way.
According to eBay, not all listings can always be updated this way. So after a central change, spot-check a few listings.
